Week of Feb 13

Boys – 8th Grade

A Team
Grapevine lost their regular season finale 47-26. Griffin Edwards led the scoring with 9 points. Ben Gair and Trent McBride were the defensive players of the game. Gabe Jackson had his best game of the year and was the hustle player of the game. GMS – 26, CMS – 47

B Team
The GMS B team lost their last game of the season to CMS 28-17. Cale Calahan led the scoring with 6 points on a pair of 3 pointers. Jonathan Kellerman was the defensive player of the game for his rebounding effort. Max Moreno was the hustle player of the game.GMS – 17, CMS – 28

C Team
The Pony C Team dropped their finale to Colleyville Middle. Andrew Garcia and Joe Walters were the offensive players of the game. Jack Wilson was the defensive player of the game. Hunter Tower was the hustle player of the game. GMS – 4, CMS – 40

Boys – 7th Grade

A Team
Grapevine came away with a huge nail biting win against the Colleyville Colts winning 34-32. Grapevine trailed 26-22 going into the fourth quarter then went on a 12-6 run, and had to play tough defense for the last minute to win. The offensive player of the game was Roman Holguin who led his team with 15 points setting a season high for all scorers. The defensive player of the game was Leo Covington who led the team in rebounds and also had 6 points. The hustle player of the game was Aasim Kammruddin who had 7 points and led the team in steals. The A team has qualified for the Zone Tournament and will hit the court Thursday.

B Team
The Ponies battled a tough CMS team tonight and gave it a good go, but they came up just short, losing by a final score of 35-19. Offensive player of the game goes to Saiviahn Shockley, who had 4 points and a handful of assists. Defensive player of the game goes to Evan Curtis who had a great defensive rebounding game. Hustle player of the game goes to Caleb Miles who had 4 points and worked hard on the glass.

C Team
The White team Ponies came out in a defensive battle that left the scoreboard short on buckets. They played hard all game long and it came down to the very end, eventually losing with a final of 19-15. Offensive player of the game goes to Benjamin Kobel who had 4 points. Defensive player of the game goes to the whole team for only allowing the CMS team to 19 points total and 3 in the first half. Hustle player of the game goes to Wyatt Gidney who worked hard on both side of the ball.

Week of February 6

Girls

7th and 8th grade girls basketball ended the regular season on Monday night. What an incredible season it has been for the GMS girls program. 8th grade A and B team took a victory at home against the CMS Colts. The A team will continue their post season play this week at Dawson Middle School. Come cheer them on.

7th grade won all three games at CMS and took the district champion title. A team finished the year with an undefeated in season record!! These girls really put on a show and have done some amazing things. A-team will be playing at Coppell Middle School West this Thursday and Friday.

All of the coaches and staff are extremely proud of the hard work these young athletes have put in. Their time and dedication are so appreciate!! Way to go girls!!

A Team (L, 66-21)
The mighty Ponies started off sluggishly but played a much better second half in their matchup against Coppell West. Eli Hall led all scorers with 13 points. Gabe Jackson added 4 points. Alphrege Ntumba had a great game defensively. Trent McBride and Griffin Edwards were the hustle players of the game.

B Team (L, 51 – 14)
The Pony B team dropped their game to Coppell West 51-14. Derek Engel led the Ponies with 4 points. Orlando Martinez was the defensive player of the game. Gabe Menchaca was the hustle player of the game.

C Team (L, 48 – 2)
The GMS C Team lost their game to Coppell West. Ian Banks and Andrew Garcia were the Offensive Players of the game. Jack Wilson was the Defensive player of the game. “Wrong Way” Joe Walters was the hustle player of the game.

Boys – 7th Grade

A Team
The GMS C Team lost their game to Coppell West. Ian Banks and Andrew Garcia were the Offensive Players of the game. Jack Wilson was the Defensive player of the game. “Wrong Way” Joe Walters was the hustle player of the game. Grapevine fought hard but fell to the Wranglers 43-25. The offensive player of the game was Roman Holguin who led all scorers with 8 points. The defensive player of the game was Brooks Jones who again off the bench had big rebounds and an offensive put back. The hustle player of the game was Leo Convington who led the team in rebounds and scored 4 points.

B Team
The 7th grade grey team came out strong against the Wranglers of Coppell West, but ultimately lost with a final score of 19-10. Offensive player of the game goes to James Herrin who had 6 points. Defensive player of the game goes to Evan Curtis for working the glass and getting some big rebounds. Hustle player of the game goes to Boone Valline.

C Team
The 7th grade boys white team were in a shootout against the Coppell West Wranglers until the very end, but fell just short with a final of 22-18. Offensive player of the game goes to Wyatt Harrison who had a huge game with 13 points. Defensive player of the game goes to Wyatt Gidney who played a tough defense and was a monster rebounder for the Ponies. Hustle player of the game goes to Benjamin Kobel who had to take on an extra amount of minutes tonight and proved that he is very much needed in the lineup for this team!

Week of January 30

Girls

GMS girls basketball took on a tough competitor last Thursday night. The Lady Ponies and the Rowdy Wranglers had some serious match ups that ended with 5 out of 6 wins for Grapevine. 7th grade had another away game SWEEP!! Make sure you come out and watch the girls take on Colleyville Middle School on Monday night for their final game of the season. 8th grade will be home and 7th grade will be at CMS. The Colts don’t know what’s coming!! We are so proud of what they’ve accomplished! Great job girls!

The Ponies lost to HMS 39-19. Offensive players of the game were Ben Gair and Eli Hall. Defensive player of the game was Jorge Paredes. The hustle award goes to Trent McBride for his gritty effort on a bad ankle.

B team
8th grade B team lost to Heritage 47-9. Offensive player of the game was Lincoln Lawler. Defense award went to Keegan Garwood. Hustle award went to Jonathan Kellerman.

C team
GMS C team lost to HMS 30-6. Offensive player of the game was Andrew Garcia. Defensive player of the game was Ian Banks. Hustle award went to Joe Walters.

Boys – 7th Grade

A Team
Grapevine came away with a victory 35-23 against the Heritage Broncos. The game was tied 17-17 at half and Grapevine pulled away outscoring Heritage 18-6 in the second half to secure the victory. The offensive player of the game was Aasim Kamrudden who led all scorers with 14 points. The defensive player of the game was Brooks Jones who came up big off the bench with clutch rebounds. The hustle players of the game go to Roman Holguin who had 11 points and Camren Mobh who had 8 assists and 2 points.

B Team
The GMS Ponies Gray played a tough 24 minutes against Heritage, but came up just short losing with a final score of 18-6. The offensive player of the game goes to Caleb Miles who had 4 points for the Ponies. Defensive player of the game goes to Joshua Logan for some big rebounds. Hustle player of the game goes to Walker St. John for his determination on both sides of the ball.

C Team
The Ponies White came out shooting the lights out against Heritage and won a nail-biter with a final score of 16-14. The offensive player of the game goes to Blake Burgess for playing a great game shooting wise and finding open players throughout the game. Defensive player of the game goes to Wyatt Harrison for playing a tough defense all night long. Hustle player of the game goes to Henry Esses for finding a way to make some tough shots to help seal the deal!

Week of January 23

Boys – 8th Grade

A Team
The A Team Ponies lost to a tough Coppell North team 55-24. Eli Hall fought through a chest cold to lead the Ponies with 11 points. Ben Gair led the way on the defensive end. Sam Pierce was the Hustle Award winner with his effort off the bench.

B Team
The 8th grade B boys dropped an exciting game vs. Coppell North. After trailing early, the Ponies were able to close the gap by holding the Cougars to 4 points in the 3rd quarter. Cale Calahan led the scoring after missing last week due to illness. Lincoln Lawler was the defensive player of the game with his suffocating perimeter defense. Keegan Garwood was the hustle player of the game with an outstanding all around game, including some big rebounds in the second half.

C Team
The Pony C Team dropped their game to Coppell North 31-13. Kenneth Franco continues to improve and led the offensive attack. Mason Edwards played great defense off the bench, causing many turnovers. The hustle hero of the game was Hudson Suarez. Hudson was all over the court.

Boys – 7th Grade 

A Team
The 7th grade boys fought hard but fell to Coppell North 45-25. The offensive player of the game was Aasim Kamrudden who led GMS with 13 points. The defensive player of the game was Adriene White who played outstanding defense locking up his man. The hustle player of the game was Camren Mobh who scored 5 points and took charge on defense to make sure his teammates were on the same page.

B Team
The Ponies played a tough game against Coppell North, but there just was not enough time on the clock to get the win. The final goes in favor of North, 37-18. The offensive player of the game is Caleb Miles. The defensive player of the game is James Herrin and the hustle player of the game is Marcellus Colley.

C Team
The Ponies played an awesome game where they were in it until the very end, but the scoreboard ended with North on top with a score of 30-12. The offensive player of the game was Wyatt Harrison who had a big three to get the team going. The defensive player of the game was Henry Esses for his air-tight defense and the hustle player of the game goes to Jacob Wirick for his hard work on both the offensive and defensive side of the ball!

Girls

Get those 7th grade Lady Ponies a broom!! They got another sweep against the Coppell North Courgars last night! What an awesome performance! 8th grade fell to the Cougars in 3 back and forth battles. These girls keep improving and are ready for another big week against Heritage Middle School next week. Come out and support these girls!

GMS B Team lost to CMS 33-7. Offensive player of the game goes to Keegan Garwood. Defensive player of the game goes to Orlando Martinez. Hustle award goes to Gabe Menchaca for his effort on both ends of the court.

C Team
Pony C Team lost to Carroll Middle School 41-10. Offensive player of the game goes to Kenneth Franco, who led the team with 6 points. Defensive player of the game goes to Hunter Tower. Hustle award goes to Andrew Garcia who fought through a busted lip to help out on the boards.

Boys – 7th Grade

A Team
The A-Team put up a tough fight against the Dragons, but fell short of victory 49-28. The offensive player of the game was Aasim Kamrudden who exploded for a season high 14 points and could not be contained by Carroll. The defensive player of the game was Roman Holguin who had 4 points and led the team in rebounds. The hustle player of the game was Isaac Finnestad who added 6 points on offense.

B Team
The Ponies had a tough task from the Carroll Dragons. They played hard all 24 minutes, but lost with the final score being 38-5. Offensive player of the game goes to Evan Curtis. Defensive player of the game goes to Alejandro Chavez. Hustle player of the game goes to Matthew Stewart.

C Team
The Ponies battled hard against Carroll but came up just short, falling to the score of 22-13. The offensive player of the game goes to Benjamin Kobel. Kobel had 4 points and was a monster on the glass. Defensive player of the game goes to Diego Zablah, who was blocking everything in sight! Hustle player goes to Ryan Adams. Adams came in off the bench and played some hard minutes and even had a big basket late in the game.

Week of January 9

Boys – 8th Grade

A Team
The Pony A team dropped their game this week to Coppell East 26-8. Offensive player of the game goes to Ben Gair with 4 points. Defensive player of the game goes to Gabe Jackson for his interior defense. Hustle player of the game goes to Trent McBride for his effort on both ends of the court.

B Team
Grapevine B team lost to Coppell East 39-10. Offensive player of the game was Johnathan Kellerman with 4 points. Orlando Martinez was the Defensive player of the game with his activity on the floor. Hustle award goes to Cale Calahan for his effort and fight throughout the game.

C Team
The Pony C team lost to a tough Coppell East opponent, 43-9. Ian Banks led the scoring with 5 points. Defensive player of the game was Joe Walters with his tough D in the post. Hustle award goes to Kenneth Franco for giving his all the entire game.

Boys – 7th Grade

A Team
The Red team fought hard only down 19-11 at half time. However, they fell short of victory 54-18. The offensive player of the game was Aasim Kamruddin who led the team with 5 points. The defensive player of the game was Leo Covington who led the team with 4 blocks and had multiple defensive rebounds. The hustle player of the game was Dylan Hoenberger who 2 points and led the team in rebounds.

B Team
The Ponies made it a tough game for Coppell East, but in the end the Ponies fell short with a final score of 37-17. Offensive player of the game goes to Walker St John who came out shooting on fire which included the oh so rare 4 point play! The defensive player of the game goes to Alejandro Chavez. Chavez was a monster on the glass and made it tough for East to score. The hustle player of the game goes to Saiviahn Shockley for making huge contributions on both sides of the ball and scoring 7 points.

C Team
The White team had a tough test versus Coppell East, losing by the final score of 31-5. The offensive MVP goes to Blake Burgess for having 3 points and making some great passes. The defensive MVP goes to Diego Zablah for coming up big with defensive blocks. Hustle award goes to Ryan Adams for working hard on both sides of the ball.

Week of December 12

Girls
The Lady Ponies played a vicious game against the CTMS Wolves on Monday night. Coming out on top in 5 of the 6 games played! 7th grade had another sweep and improved their record to 3-0. 8th grade won both A and B team games! Each of the girls played so well and have fought so hard each week! Their next game will be after the holiday break on January 5th. Come out and watch the take on Coppell Middle School East! You won’t regret it!

B Team
8th Grade “B” boys lost to CTMS 28-6. Offensive player of the game goes to Lincoln Lawler with 4 points. The defensive player of the game goes to Hunter Tower.

C Team
GMS “C” 8th graders lost to CTMS 20-4. Caleb Crispin was the offensive player of the game. Kenneth Franco played amazing defense.

Boys – 7th Grade

A Team
The boys fought hard and the game was close with the score 8-8 after the first. However, the wolves proved to be too much with the final score being 36-12. The offensive player of the game was Aasim Kamruddin who tied for the lead with 4 points. The defensive player of the game was Adrienne White who hustled hard on the defensive side of the ball leading the team in steals. The hustle player of the game was Roman Holguin who tied for the team lead with 4 points and led the team in rebounds.

Week of December 5

Girls 
The Lady Ponies had another amazing night against the Carroll Middle School
Dragons on 12/8. 8th grade C team won and A and B had a close matchup,
but fell short of the win. 7th grade A,B and C all advanced to 2-0 with
another sweep against the Dragons.

The A Ponies dropped their opener to Dawson 38-16. Griffin Edwards led the scoring with 5 points. Jorge Paredes and Gabe Jackson both shined on defense.

B Team
The B Team lost their first game of the year to Dawson 35-10. Cale Calahan led the team with 5 points. Orlando Martinez played a great game defensively, tallying several rebounds and steals.

C Team
The C Ponies lost to Dawson 29-4. Ian Banks was the player of the game with 3 points and lots of hustle.

Boys – 7th Grade

A Team
The red team dropped their season opener to Dawson 36-15. The offensive player of the game was Ryan Light who led the team with 5 points. The defensive player of the game Aasim Kamruddin who had multiple steals on defense leading to 4 points. The hustle player of the game was Roman Holguin who contributed 4 points on the offensive side of the ball and led the team in rebounds.

B Team:
The Ponies fought hard against Dawson but came up short, losing 42-8. Offense MVP goes to Joshua Logan who had 6 points. Defense MVP goes to Caleb Miles for playing hard defense to protect the rim. The hustle award goes to Walker St. John for making some big time plays on both sides of the ball.

C Team
In the first game of the year, the Ponies lost to Dawson in a very difficult game. Offense player of the game goes to Saiviahn Shockley, Defense player of the game goes to Diego Zablah and hustle goes to Wyatt Gidney.
